At my company we have been getting very generous salary increases and
bonuses, but at the cost of layoffs. Good for the people who get to
stay, not so good for those who don't.
In 2001, most of us got raises in the 5-8% range, plus 2-5% bonuses.
The company laid off just about half of the staff prior to this.
In 2002, I got a 6% raise and a small bonus; they laid off another 50%
of the writers, plus some QA and R&D.
If I can hang on, I figure I'll get another fat raise for 2003, but be
working alone.
