Best thing. Worked as Manufacturing Engineer for
20 years never realizing I was a Tech Writer.
Being laid off after 12 years was a shock as I
didn't see it coming. Company paid seminar provided
the impetus to review my career and skills. Landed
a Project Manager gig for a couple of years, and
then went perm with a TW spot in a completely
different industry. I was complacent and in a rut
and generally tired of the Aerospace biz, so getting
the boot really helped my career and life.
CB - finally accepting having been a TW for 25 years
