Brian:
This may only get you off the tack temporarily but
have you thought of getting something like Canon's
Office Ready? It comes with a slew of document
templates like fax cover pages, auto expense reports,
credit reminders, meeting action items, order forms,
invoices, travel itineraries, etc. It integrates
easily with Word (I've used it with word 2000 and XP)
and has saved me a few steps in creating these types
of forms for my employer. I picked it up at Staples a
couple of years ago and haven't looked back - it was
cheap too - under 20 bucks.
I generally can find something similar to what we need
then I simply tweak the templates to customize, output
them as a pdf, and circulate them internally (email
attachment or downloadable from our site).
Sure, it's not hard-core "tech" writing, but it's
brainless, keeps my bosses off my back, gives
everybody something useful to work with and everyone
thinks I walk on water!
Hope this helps, Barbara.
