John has been advised to write to the president of the company and to file a show-stopper bug report, both of which are reasonably successful tactics in my experience. But what I've found is the fastest and easiest way to resolve this type of problem is to contact a salesperson (not a telemarketer, somebody who is actually in the company's sales department) and explain the problem. That usually results in a rapid response from an engineer who can actually solve the problem, with minimal effort on my part.
