TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
A knowledge base is an excellent idea, methinks. Make it easy for
everybody to publish to it. Depending upon how open-minded your company
is, you may want to even consider a Wiki. But that may be a bit radical.
>From the sounds of things, one important aspect of this knowledge base
should be freshness. Your KB home page should definitely adverstise
what's been recently updated. This should help emphasize to customers
what they may want to read first.
In fact, you may want to consider some kind of blog/KB hybrid, which
lists the most recently added items chronological, with the freshest at
the top. Thanks. DB.
