I find serif fonts (especially ones that look like TNR) almost IMPOSSIBLE to
read on a computer screen, but I can't wait to see what kind of replies this
query gets.
I agree, especially on a laptop in poor lighting conditions.
Other considerations about your target audience:
1. Does it include individuals with visual difficulties? My mother and
mother-in-law have macular degeneration. Serifs are very difficult for them
to distinquish.
2. Does it include senior citizens? Don't laugh! The senior citizen
community is one of the fastest growing e-commerce markets. They may have
special requirements for onscreen fonts. This isn't an area I've seen many
studies on.
