I just got FrameMaker (thanks to those who helped me decide to get it), and
am new to ATM, so bear with me. I've googled, and searched the Adobe
website, this list, and the Framers list. I've also tried (and not yet
succeeded) to post to the Framers list. I haven't found the basic how-to
information that I need. You all have been so helpful in the past that I'm
trying here, too.
I'm working on WinXP (service pack 2) with FrameMaker 7.0p576, and I need to
use the company font, Myriad. The Format > Font drop-down list shows Myriad
Pro (which is "regular"), but I also need Italic, Bold, and Bold Italic. If
I understand this correctly, Myriad Pro is a multiple master font, so I
should somehow be able to create these font instances from Myriad Pro with
ATM Lite.
I have ATM 4.1 Lite, but don't have a clue how to use it to create font
instances. When I open the program, Myriad Pro is in the Fonts tab,
Destination list. When I select Create Multiple Maters on the Source list,
all the buttons in the Fonts tab get greyed out except Remove, and nothing
displays in the Multiple Master Base Font list.
So, I have several questions:
1. Is Myriad Pro indeed a multiple master font?
2. If it is, how do I go about creating the font instances I need with ATM
4.1 Lite so that Myriad "regular", Italic, Bold, and Bold Italic fonts are
available in FrameMaker 7? I need really basic step by step instructions on
this.
3. Will I be able to create PDFs to send to my commercial offset printer
that include these fonts?
Thanks for your kind attention to a newbie. I'm sorry if this got posted
twice -- this is my second day on the list and haven't it gotten all sorted
out yet.
