Yes, market research is important, especially when you want to think of
other configurations of the same components -- like being a tech writer in
the healthcare technology field (which, I've heard, is growing).

Do your market research first.
The nursing profession is being outsourced about 80%
of the time, and it's being outsourced to companies
employing people with little to no nursing experience,
because they can pay them $10-$15/hr. These "nurses"
can rarely set an IV, and know little more than how to
take someone's blood pressure or change a bedpan.
