Karen is right. As Technical Writers, Communicators,
Authors ...
We should have the skills described in previous
postings. They are the foundation of the profession.
However, stay just with this foundation does not Make
us TECHNICAL. A broad knowledge of technology is,
IMHO, essential.
XML is one example. If anyone went to TechEd they
would have noticed that practically every ms product
will apply XML technology in one way or another.
I would agree that learning XML for the technology and
documentation is worthwhile skill to have for the
future.
