Besides cleaning up the mess, I'm more concerned with why we are all getting these messages.
Because we have e-mail addresses that are recorded somewhere on the machines of one or more people who have been "infected" with a "virus" that harvests e-mail addresses and sends itself to those addresses.
Why is it affecting all members of this board?
See above; also, it's not just Techwr-L members. All the addresses on an "infected" machine are susceptible to being harvested in this way.
My email admin says that an infected machine must have all of our emails and is sending all these messages.

Can we stop it at the source?
The source of the virus? That's the job of law enforcement agencies.
Is there anything the list manager can do?
You mean Eric? Not unless he could control whether every list member demonstrate diligent antivirus protection practices.
