While I don't tie grammatical errors in a product to a comapny's
profesionalism, I do tie it to questioning the quality of the company's
product. I think other people do too. If there's shoddy workmanship on the
surface, who's to say that it's not under the surface as well.
OTOH, a clean, shiny surface is no guarantee of quality workmanship
either--and is yoo often used to gloss over shoddy workmanship.

Not quite the same. I would gloss over a possible typo (especialy as my own
typing skills won't win any competitions) a lot easier than I would the text
in a product that's been through (theoretically) a thorough vetting before
being released to the public. But that's just me....
