Oh, absolutely! My workflow includes receiving .doc files from other
people...so I apply the language (Tools>Language) before I spell-check,
because I don't know whether they've altered something or imported styles
or (more infuriating) whether Word has overwritten default styles such as
Normal or Heading 1.
But you're spot-on--in setting up styles, we should always set the
language as well.
