Even though conversion tools abound, there is a definiteFor many people on this list, there may be. With the exception of those who do their work in a markup language, list-members have to worry about the format in which their relatively complex documents arrive.
advantage to using the tools the companies/customers/clients we
work with use.
However, given the abuses that many users inflict on normal.dot, you can't be sure that your formatting will be preserved even if you write in MS Word and your customers open it in MS Word.
I also can't help noticing that many of the executives who make this claim rarely write anything more complex than a memo, a letter, and maybe a simple table or two - all of which can easily be exported from another piece of software.
A good number, too, make such a hash of spelling and formatting by themselves that I wonder how a flawed export filter could possibly do more harm to their company's image than they do themselves.
