I do wonder where this idea comes from. Too many movies
with Hugh Grant in perhaps.

Help help, I'm being culturally oppressed!

Despite being British I don't wear
a bowler hat, say "barth" instead of "bath",
or refuse to use active voice :-)

Seriously though, is there really a belief that UK English
is all pompous drivel while US English is all a wonder of
economy, or is this just a left-pondian prejudice?
