Geoff Hart suggests the Google syntax, "define:[a word]" (no quotes or
brackets). It's a nice function, but I generally find http://www.onelook.com to be very quick - with the advantage that the
sources are some 900 different dictionaries, classified as to type, etc,
which allows one to quickly drill down to the specific context.
