Employer/Employee Credit Verifications

I recall reading a few emails on the topic of employers performing credit
verifications on potential candidates. If the personal stats on employees
can be scrutinized, has anyone ever considered compiling a "dead beat" list
(credits to the creators of the "dead beat dad" list) of organizations that
do not pay their service providers (e.g. Technical Writing Services, Editing
Services, etc.). This type of reference may be useful for contractors that
need to know if a potential client has settled their invoice on time, or at
all. If the list is centrally managed and based on unambiguous evidence &
ethical guidelines for posting/reporting, IMO it may be useful to the
Technical Writing community.

Cheers.
