Funny thing, I find that the closer I am to "understanding
unemployment" (i.e., when I happen to *be* unemployed) is
when I'm the *least* sympathetic to the lamentations of
those who are in the same boat I am, and even even less so
toward those who expressing their unhappiness about being
underemployed ("Hey, at least you have *a* job, etc.")
I suppose I just become very self-absorbed in the process
of surviving. Mind you, I'm talking about peoples'
*complaints,* not their situations. Someone responding to
an inquiry about their jobsearch with something along the
lines of "It's been six months since my last interview,
it's tough but we're hanging in there" always gets a nod
from me.
