With companies and products being used across the globe, documentation needs
to meet the English vocabulary and style in sync with the ALL users spread
across - for the most part American and European.

It is my impression that British English is used - in Europe - only in the UK and Ireland*. People in other European countries, i.e., those with English as a second language, appear to be more comfortable with US English.

When we produce English language documentation that is not solely intended for the UK, we therefore use US English. (Note that we have not, so far, documented products for which Asia, Oceania, or Africa were major markets. Different considerations might apply to such products.)
