I use the apostrophe, because it's a contraction. And no, 
it's not just a Florida or east coast term. 

I'm doc'ing it now...
It's already doc'd... 

Sometimes, particularly in email, it's abso-effing-lutely
essential to write colloquially, but that's a-whole-nother
subject!  ;-)
