To add to this, make sure you run a cost-of-living adjustment for your area.
In general, salaries (at least in Silicon Valley) have dropped to pre-boom rates. Around here, if you change jobs (willingly or not) your salary tends to drop about 30% from boom-era rates . . . (too bad my mortgage hasn't done the same :) )
The STC Salary Survey is of limited value (IMHO) and always has been, simply because it is not thorough enough. Having said that, it's a usable baseline, if you run the numbers through the reality of your geographical area.
