David, I feel, has a good point. Plato's post that said, "Get a clue!" hit home for me. It is so much easier to type a note off to the list serv and sit back while waiting for other people to answer your question instead of hitting Google and searching for what you're looking for, especially if you are not a really good researcher. Last night a friend emailed me and asked, what does DSO mean in a job description? The proper content was: The DSO will be responsible for updating the User Guide and online help. I Googled, I asked some friends, and I, sadly, gave up. I had to tell her I just couldn't figure out what the acronym meant, but I am horrible at acronyms. Now I ask the list, does anyone know what DSO stands for?

In my life, if my friends weren't a little deprecating I wouldn't be friends with them. I need no happy-happy, suger-coating friends. I want friends that battle what I battle daily: the loss of my sense of humour, the reality that if I am irritated to the point of distraction I watch "Fight Club" and dream of revenge, that I have a teenager, that I juggle more than my fair share of BS on a day-to-day basis!!!!!!! I'm self-deprecating, I want friends like me! Realists! Perfectionists! Human!! I even notice that my teenager's friends are deprecating, witty and sarcastic. Ah, I made an impression. Scathing wit is an important thing to have in order to get by in our realities.

This brings to light an assumption that some folks may be making, which
maybe we should examine. SHOULD we think of the other members of this
list as friends? On the one hand, I see the point that we have to have
a different set of expectations of our business associates than we do of
our friends because our business associates are primarily concerned with
how we perform professionally. On the other hand, I sure don't want to
make any ENEMIES here.
