I've only had one experience with a company whose
engineering resisted allowing the writer to attend
project meetings from inception, and it was a
thoroughly miserable experience for both manager
and writers (not to mention the users who ended up
with the finished product). Usually, what I have is
project managers telling me they have a new project
starting in two weeks and they need a writer assigned
(and of course, I don't have enough writers to
accomodate them). That's not fun either, but it is
better.
