I thought the same as Bonnie ... the second scenario
being much worse than the first.
Still, it happens. Does Jasc employ technical writers
and editors and what time and resources were available
for the project. Sometimes, such outcomes make sense
in light of the bigger, project-wide picture.
BTW, after considering the enture post, I assume that
the index entries themselves are wrong, not the
pagination of the index itself. (If the index were in
the front of the book, it could mess up the index
entries, though, a lose-lose situation indeed. ;?)
