Felice...you bring up a good point. We're always saying that a
requirements description is a shopping list and its up to the
interviewer to make sure that that the person has the skills that are
really important to the position.
If it gets by them, there's no shame. I also believe in being 100%
honest with the client for whom you are doing the work. If you don't
know something that wasn't specified and in your opinion, you cannot get
up to full speed, speak with the client and be honest. Tell them what
you think the position requires, how much of it you can do, how munch
you can pick up, and what you cannot do. Then, leave it in their hands.
What will happen is one of the following:=20
They will respect you and help get you up to speed They will respect you
and modify their needs They will respect you but change the
arrangement...they may even let you go.
However, in your opinion, that was going to eventually happen anyway. In
any case, they'll respect you and they will bend backwards to show it.
