[cross-posted to copyediting-l and techwr-l, since the two lists don't fully overlap]

Last fall, I provided a range of advice to several colleagues on how to mitigate and possibly even avoid repetitive stress injuries (RSI) caused by computing. Because the results were of obvious interest to so many people, I researched the issue and put together a longish summary article:
http://www.raycomm.com/techwhirl/magazine/usersadvocate/rsi.html

Two important warnings:

First, RSI is a very complex issue, with many different conditions lumped under that one heading, and many factors can cause and exacerbate each specific condition. I hope you'll be able to avoid ever having to learn more by following the advice in the article, but if you do have problems, please see a specialist.

Second, please recognize that everyone is different. What works for one body may be disastrous for another. Pay careful attention to whether a given piece of advice is working for you, and if it isn't, by all means try something else. "Different strokes..." and all that.
