I, too, use linking because all of the advantages lie with linking compared to some real show-stoppers with embedded graphics.
Oh, yes, I forgot one potential disadvantage: if your file hierarchy, versioning, and naming conventions for files are not well conceived and executed, you can have some difficulties in managing files that contain a large number of separate but linked graphics.
However, even the most un-meticulous soon learn that this kind of organization is the only way to be constantly productive, so it becomes a habit. Beyond that, the advantages are all on the side of the linked graphic approach:
1) Graphics can be updated separately and will appear in their updated form in every new iteration of a document.
2) Less memory is required when handling long and complex chapters and the books they are part of.
3) The text can be more easily updated without the time-consuming loading of large graphic images.
As I said, outside of requiring some care in organization, I can think of no advantage to embedding graphics in Frame.
