I am forever grateful for the assistance and experience gleaned from this
list, oh great ones. <up off my knees now>

Quark is my layout tool here, but the same basic rules apply. However, I do
like to embed little dialog boxes (y'know, where you click on OK, or yes or
whatever) in the text. Rather than make them separate figures, I just embed
them so they stay near the text reference. But all the main figures are
linked files.
