While any of these tasks by themselves might be suitable duties for
a writing intern, all of them as a group are a good example of what
you're *not* supposed to do with an intern, namely giving him/her
a bunch of tedious work that your writers might not want to do
themselves. Interns are not budget labor, they're students you
are agreeing to assist in their preparations to enter your field. A
writing intern should be assigned to assist one or more writers with
a variety of "meat and potato" functions that provide experience in
your entire documentation process, such as the creation of doc
plans, research, draft writing, illustration, editing and production.
A well-mentored intern should be difficult for people outside your
organization to distinguish from an entry-level writer.
