You can get some of the information online like:.
A pdf, with the top 100 in 2002, is available at
http://www.manufacturing.net

Top 100 computer companies
http://www.netvalley.com/top100am_vendors.html

www.softletter.com has software industry metrics that include how well the
top 100 perform in various financial measures but, you have to pay for the
data. Likewise, other sources are available for a fee...

You could also do a NAICS (was SIC 7372) search through various databases.
Packaged applications software is 511210 for Software Publishers.

You could go to http://www.hoovers.com for industry data on public companies
(some private too).

Try University research libraries. For example, in St. Louis
http://www.slu.edu/libraries/pius/qrefsour/qrefcpin.html

The data is not that hard to get if you look for it...

I'm looking for a directory or listing of software companies in the U.S.
Something that lists the company, what their products are, where they're
located, revenues, size, etc.

Does anyone know where I can find this information?
