I don't know if I agree with this one. 2001-2003 were a bit lean, but this year my income's probably going to return to 1999-2000 levels. Of course, not all of my income is from tech-writing, but the hourly rate I can charge for tech-writing is rising again. Several times in the last six months, I've actually had to turn down opportunities, too - and that has happened in a few years.
