I'm sorry to hear that. The only consolation is that, having scraped bottom, you know that you can can handle the worst - and that's only a consolation after the fact. At the time, it can be pretty miserable.

I don't know why, but the Vancouver area seems to be undergoing a small boom right now. There's a fair number of startups, and established companies are hiring, too. And my favorite head-hunter, who spent most of the last couple of years in involuntary semi-retirement, is reporting that his business is picking up, too
