The King James Bible looks both ways, because it borrows heavily from earlier versions of the English written 150 years earlier. Some people think that Shakespeare might have assisted, especially with the psalms. There's no direct evidence that he did, but the idea has been picked up in fiction, such as Rudyard Kipling's "Proof of Holy Writ" and the last issue of Neil Gaiman's graphical novel The Sandman.
