I think that I would want to know if there is a high probability that my
future children would become extremely sick or completely disabled. Some
people seem to believe that genetic testing is a bad idea. I know one
person who wants it left up to a higher power. I think that if you know
that a child might be born with severe problems, it is cruel to put the
child through a life of misery.
If I knew that there might be a problem, I would adopt, rather than take
a chance that the life I envisioned would be over, that the medical costs
would be astronomical, and neither my wife or myself would have a good
life. Not to mention the child.
