Hi- I recently ran across a rather interesting
problem when working on a medium sized document in
Word (100 pages, plus 50 to 60 graphics- pictures,
graphs and charts, and 3 clip art).

I was receiving edits from the specialists on content
and was using tracked changes for the supervisor's
approval (which I only mention because this is when
the problem apparently arose, or is at least when I
realized there was a problem), and on the very last
page of the document I encountered a text box. I had
not used text boxes in the document, so was surprised,
but figured I would just delete it and that would be
the end of it.

After attempting to delete, cut, and hide the text box
in every way I could think of, it became apparent that
this box was not going away. There were apparently a
lot of these text boxes because I used the cut
function well over 200 times with cut text boxes
appearing on the clipboard (sadly after a while I did
start keeping track of how many I was cutting from the
document).

I went back through the entire document and checked
for links that would cause it to remain and found
none. Eventually I ran out of options and time (I had
to have the document done yesterday) and was forced to
copy and paste the majority of the document, minus the
section with the text box, which I re-typed (on the
off chance the problem originated with the document
the text originally came from).

I called our End User Support Center and they didn't
even understand what the problem was (thank you
contracting). They directed me to the Word help
website, which I had already tried unsuccessfully.
Our computer person, along with two other highly
trained individuals, looked at the document and
couldn't figure out how to get rid of the problem or
even what was causing it (they could at least figure
out what the problem was).

Here is my question- has anyone else run into this
problem and what did you do about it?
