I've got in the habit of posting now, so here's my opinion. Assuming you're a co-worker only - how about informally having a coffee with the individual, and communicating some of your concerns? You might be doing that person a huge favour. What seems so plain to you, in terms of how to handle a business environment, may not be as obvious to this person.
I know when I started in the business world, I had no idea how things worked. I came from an academic family and journalism background, where defending one's own beliefs and debate in general was highly valued. Business is a whole different environment.
I don't know this person's background, but presumably they wouldn't be endangering their new job on purpose. I guess I feel a compassionate response should at least be considered.
Thanks,
Eileen
