TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Dunno, I asked just this type of question, and got some really useful responses. Who better to ask about tools than a group that uses them? Kind of like asking your neighbours what kind of dishwasher they use, and do they like it. I read consumer reports as well, but there's nothing like some personal experience.
We could use more types of questions, sure. But let's not knock useful advice that is currently available. You don't like it, hit delete.

I just love the "I'm thinking of using either RoboHelp or XML Spy.
Which do you recommend?" questions that pop up over time. Talk about
your uninformed decision-making! And that's just in the "tools"
bucket!!!
