There are wrist braces that helped me when I had CTS as part of
pre-eclampsia during pregnancy (I'm assuming that's not your problem!). The
braces keep your wrist fairly immobile, which helps keep your hand from
going numb.
I have an odd setup for my mouse. My mouse is at arm's length from me, and I
have my chair height set so that I can rest my entire forearm on the desk
when I mouse, which keeps my wrist from touching the surface of the desk.
People have told me how it's "not good" for me ergonomically, but it keeps
the CTS symptoms at bay.
Ibuprofen works wonders to keep inflammation down. If you overdo it, take
some of that then let everything rest for several days before you attempt it
again. Your home-improvement projects will have to wait.
