Diction. "Pathetic" is a stinging word. Phrase the sentence
otherwise, maybe you can even use the word "pathetic." But
nope. That's sentence is a sting. A smiley could have mitigated
it, perhaps enough.
A perfect example of what to watch for when writing to email
lists.
