I think the important thing to remember is that not all employers
behave badly, nor do they all consider stuff out of context when
investigating a candidate's credentials. IMO, to be worried about this
is to be paranoid, and if you are, then do ensure you spell-check your
postings and put forward a professional attitude.

What I, specifically, look for are what lists a person belongs to,
what societies, what issues they've raised over time, what issues
they've helped others resolve, and try to get an idea of where this
person is with regard to their skills, desire to learn, desire and
ability help others, and openness to new ideas.
