Re: Request: Info about nontraditional roles
I'm compiling a collection of case studies about technical writers who
contributed value to a client or an employer by going beyond our
traditional roles.
For me, doing technical writing means doing such a variety of things that I don't have any clear idea what you mean by "traditional roles." I've simply always taken for granted that, when working as a technical writer, I'd be doing a lot of different things.
Perhaps that is just me. Or perhaps that explains that, while I've had good years and bad years, I've always worked steadily. I can't say that I've particularly thought about it as a survival strategy or innovation. Taking on different roles at the same time was just something that I did.
