Indeed it is. In the 1980s you could buy black-lined
cones shaped at the large end to go around your computer
screen and at the small end to accommodate your camera.
How else would you get a picture off the screen? At the
time, I worked at a pioneering computer graphics company
and as we were planning our new brochure, with screenshots,
I was squealing "It's data! It's data! There must
be a way to get it straight onto the page," and they
said to me calmingly, "Sure there is. We make the room
real dark, and we put this cone around the screen..."
