RE: ADDIE
When some people see or hear the word system, they think of
mega-methodologies that require several bookcases and intense training
to use. A System Approach to Training is not that difficult or
complicated. The Instructional System Development (ISD) Model was
designed to solve training problems. Figure 2 shows the ISD model. It
was first established by the Department of Defence, but can now be found
in almost any type of organisation. It grew out of the "systems
analysis" concepts that became popular after World War II. It is
probably the most extensively used instructional design model in use
today.

Wow Sonja! You are stupendous. I think you hit the nail on the head, as did the always billiant Sherry Michaels. I've been teaching, training, and developing courses and training programs for so long that it's all second nature to me and, thus, as you wrote, it doesn't seem "that difficult or complicated."
However, I'm always good a second-guessing myself and superstititious about being too cocky, so I thought I'd better ask. I do know that ADDIE has been criticized and other models have been set forth as improvements.
I can also see that, although the position is with university training program for career professionals, the team members may not all have the hands-on educational/training background that I assumed. Talking to my partner about this, I realized that I'd forgotten what it was like to be expected to develop a course and teach it for the first time. And, since this position would be working with people from professional school backgrounds such as law enforcement, I can see how plenty of people came to a position in the program lacking any particular background in teaching or training, but plenty of subject matter expertise.
I'd love to take a look at your document, btw.
Thanks to everyone who had input.
Since I have my interview Monday, wish me luck! It's my first interview since starting the job search, so I am seeing this more as an opportunity to practice after five years in one position. It's not that I don't think I'm more than qualified but, rather, that I think it's highly unlikely I land a job right out of the starting gate! I'm superstitutious like that: hope for the best; prepare for the worst and all that. :)
