Have never been in your position so I do not speak from experience, but
maybe my comments will help anyway.
You're in a position that is both like and unlike the new college
graduate seeking his or her first job.
Your position is like it in that it's a job interview and you want to
impress.
Your position is unlike it in that it's for a job that requires a lot
of experience.
I'd say no rolex, only off the rack suits (but a good suit, say in the
$350 range), no ostentatious displays of wealth. BUT of course you do
want to display a good, appropriate sense of self importance and self
confidence, which go hand in hand. You also may want to display some
small (not ostentatious) sign of past financial success. The suit you
choose will probably show this.
Eileen Heckman had a good answer to your query it seems. I would add
that mainly she was addressing the case of job applicants in sales and
financial. B/c you are in technical, it's different. But then again, you
are probably at the middle manager level.
