I must say that I do disagree. Wear the suit that makes you look your
best. Wear the watch that fits the suit best. Might be the Seiko, might be
the Rolex. Doesn't matter--what does matter is how you look. I also have
to say, based on what I've seen, that virtually no off-the-rack suit looks
as good as a high-dollar one. Also, seeing the way most tech writers dress
at the national STC conventions (myself included), we're probably NOT the
people you want to ask this question to... :)
