Hi Robert,
Although I did not actually go to live in Europe, I went overseas to work as a contract desktop publisher on proposals for a major telecommunications company a few years back. One thing that was an issue was that of fonts and keyboards for the language you are working in. Another was getting office supplies: paper, binders, etc. that you are used to getting in the US.
I'm not sure if this helps, but it's all I've got...
