Why not just use process?
Less ambiguity, and everyone understands it. (KISS)

Hierarchy of Input, Process, Output
Or you could use - Supplier, processor, customer (Shades of QA)
If we could all have a common glossary, synonym list, antonym list, or
thesaurus of the different terms used for the same thing, and we all agreed on
their relationships (Dream on, huh?)
The same hierarchical challenge exists in the references between Process -
Procedure, as there is between Module and Module.
How granular do we need to get. If we have nested processes, are they
procedures,
sub-processes?
