The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
already i begin to regret writing this post. it's still early, but i feel that i will again doomed to be reminded just how completely different i am from others when it comes to the subject of language, even especially from other writers and editors. one response, which i'll not respond to, made a stunning leap of a comparision that just boggles the mind, and moreover, it was just borderline mean-spririted.
i absolutely refuse to become an unimaginitive humorless anal-retentive language snob in my everyday life. this is in no way mutally exclusive with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and according to the rules of grammar when the situation calls for it. for those who incapable of accepting this, i feel sorry for you. nay, for the people who must endure you.
meanwhile, in a context that certainly required the ability to communicate clearly and professionally, our great leader recently said:
It's in our country's interests to find those who would do harm to us and get them out of harm's way.
i feel surrounded, which is all the more reason to retain my sense of humor and revel in the beauty of language, all language.
