Has anyone encountered this odd problem? I'm running Windows XP SP2, PhotoShop 7.01, and RoboHelp X5 SP2. Dual-monitor setup with laptop as the primary machine and the desktop extended onto the second monitor.
In PhotoShop, I select an image and then click Image Size on the menu bar. The dialog box never appears. If I try to do anything else, the laptop beeps at me, as if the dialog box is open somewhere, but invisible to me. I can press Enter to "make the dialog box go away" so that I can close the application properly, but that doesn't explain why the dialog box is invisible. I can see every other dialog box in the application.
Then, in RoboHelp, I tried to preview a topic by clicking the Preview button and by right-clicking in the topic and then clicking Preview. The preview window never opens. Again, it acts as thought the window is open somewhere in desktop cyberspace.
This is what I've done: Restarted the laptop, reconfigured the Desktop to run only on the laptop, reset display settings to all the defaults, turned off the Firewall, turned off Popup stopper, run Ad-aware, uninstalled and reinstalled PhotoShop, reinstalled RoboHelp X5 SP2, uninstalled Snag-It (which I installed last week), and uninstalled a few other programs.
I have not "repaired XP".
Have any of you ever run into this very odd situation?
Many thanks.
