Re: User rant
The current annoyance that my wife reports with the new LG is that there is no obvious way to have a plain, solid color (or white) wallpaper
I bought a simple LG about a year ago. I stumbled on a partial solution to the wallpaper nonsense after a while.
Menu -> Settings -> Display -> Wallpaper
presents the "Default" list of garish wallpapers. Choosing the left or right cursors while viewing this list presents an alternate list, called "EMS". No idea what EMS stands for, but these items are single, centered icons on a white background. I chose an innocuous one, #26: a pair of black sunglasses.
Not being part of the ringtones generation, the lack of a Wallpaper -> None option aggravates me, too. My daughter has the same phone; she's not bothered. I think we're losing this war.
Otherwise, the UI on my LG phone is the best I've used.
