TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
All the numbers in section 27 are in USD, so technical writer in
India, with 0-2 years experience, makes an average of USD 6306 and not
INR 6306. Same for the other case you quoted.
The references used for this comparison are:
India: STC India 2005 salary survey
US: STC 2004 salary survey
Cost of living in all Indian cities is almost the same except for the
cost of properties. Those are higher in Bangalore and Mumbai.
I am not sure how I should quantify the cost of leaving. Tell me some
common commodities for which you would like to compare the prices and
I can give you the Indian prices.
Thanks,
Paresh
